The cameras HomeKit won't show you
Most IP cameras never make it into Apple Home. Dashboard takes them directly – you enter the stream address, or let the app find it.
- It finds them for you. It scans the network, and for ONVIF cameras it works out the address on its own.
- Hikvision, Dahua, Reolink, Axis, Tapo, VIGI and Synology plus restreams from Synology.
- Audio in full screen, when the camera sends G.711 or AAC. The tile stays silent.
- Time-lapse up to 12 hours, saved as a single video in Photos (Premium).
A floor plan you can tap
You upload a render of your home and place the accessories on it. After that you just tap the light in the room you're standing in.

How to make your floor plan
No architect and no scanner. An image is all it takes – and four steps. The 3D floor plan is part of Premium.
Create a render
Have a floor plan from the builder or a sketch on paper? Upload it to ChatGPT and ask it to turn it into a 3D floor plan. Landscape works best, at least 2000 × 1200 px.
Upload it
In the settings, open 3D floor plan and choose an image from Photos or Files. You can add up to five floors and give each one a name.
Place the accessories
On the right side of the editor (below the plan on iPhone) you pick an accessory and tap the plan where it actually is. Tap the icon to choose how it looks.
Control it with a tap
On the dashboard you then tap the light in the room you're standing in. Thermostats show the temperature, open windows and doors glow orange.
The doorbell right on the wall
A ring wakes the panel and opens the camera — you talk, then open the door.
Ready for the foldable iPhone
Folded, the cover screen shows the phone layout. Unfolded, the wide layout from iPad takes over — ten columns, pages and tiles wherever they were placed. Nothing to switch on: the app goes by the shape of the window.
What’s new
3.4.1 adds six languages, 3.3 brought new tiles and colours, 3.2 the screen saver and Premium as a one-time purchase.
- 3.4.1: Dashboard now speaks Hungarian, Danish, Norwegian, Romanian, Turkish and Brazilian Portuguese — 22 languages in all.
- Battery tile: the battery level of sensors, locks or a solar inverter, with a bolt while charging and a refresh interval you choose.
- Vacuum tile: start and stop, suction power, dock and battery, for robot vacuums that reach Apple Home through a bridge.
- A colour tint for every tile, set one by one — the glass look stays, only the shade changes.
- Screen saver layout: arrange and resize the clock, weather, calendar and camera yourself, and let photos fill the background.
- The 3D floor plan snaps to the grid, tiles fit into the empty parts of the plan and transparent edges are trimmed on import.
- A new typeface across the app, a unified look for device tiles and six backgrounds, including seasonal ones.
- Screen saver (Premium): instead of going dark the display dims and shows a large clock, today’s calendar, the weather and one camera.
- The app rotates with the iPad and iPhone; a wall panel can be locked to landscape so it never flips when touched.
- Premium as a one-time purchase, next to the yearly subscription — buy it once and keep it.
- Tiles for photos, Reminders you can tick off from the panel, and temperature history as a chart.
The solar data Apple Home won't show
Apple Home has no device type for solar panels, so most inverters are bridged in as a light sensor – where they end up buried in the status bar. Here they become a tile with a number.
- Generation, house load, grid draw, export and battery, each with its own icon
- Pick the unit for a light sensor: watts, kilowatts or percent
- Nothing is guessed: the reported number is shown with the unit and icon you pick. Kilowatts simply divide it by a thousand.
Everything that matters on one screen
No switching between apps, no digging through lists. Accessories come from your Apple Home, including the ones connected through Matter bridges such as KNX/1Home; groups you created in the Home app show up as a single tile. With Premium you drag the tiles where you want them and resize them by the corner handle – separately for the iPad on the wall and for the iPhone.
Lights and switches
Bulbs, sockets, fans, TVs, air purifiers, humidifiers, valves and irrigation – everything that can be switched on and off. Dimmable lights also get brightness, colour and white colour temperature.
Heating and temperature
Thermostats and radiator valves with a target temperature in half-degree steps, and standalone thermometers in °C or °F.
Shades and blinds
Shades, blinds and powered windows – position from 0 to 100% in one-percent steps, plus slat tilt on blinds.
Doors, gates and locks
Door locks, sliding and swing gates, and garage doors. You pick your own icon for each one, and it carries over to the floor plan.
Windows and contact sensors
Windows, doors, gates and contact sensors as a single item with an open / all closed state. An alarm with home, away, night and off modes – for any HomeKit security system.
Sensors
Humidity, water leaks, smoke, CO, light level, motion and occupancy. Air quality with the rating in words plus measured CO₂ in ppm, particulates and volatile compounds.
Cameras
HomeKit cameras with a live stream, listening and talk-back – and standalone RTSP cameras outside HomeKit in H.264 and H.265, which the app finds on the network by itself.
Doorbells
When a paired HomeKit doorbell rings, the panel wakes the display, opens that doorbell's camera in full screen and puts the locks you picked next to it. Nothing is unlocked on its own.
Shortcuts
Run a shortcut you already have straight from a tile on the wall. The app hands it to the Shortcuts app and comes back (Premium).
Scenes
Scenes from the Home app with a single tap. The active scene stays highlighted for as long as it matches the real state of the accessories.
And on top of that
Weather with a six-day forecast – and with Premium today hour by hour as its own tile. A shared family calendar, countdowns to the days that matter, a clock tile that can also show the name day, and an Apple Music player.
Built for the wall, not for your pocket
This is what sets it apart from the Home app: an iPad on the wall has different needs than a phone in your hand.

The app collects nothing about you
A panel on the wall sees more of your home than any other app – your cameras, when you come home, whether anything is open. That's why there are no excuses here and no “anonymized statistics”.
No account
There is nothing to register for and nothing to sign in to. The app has no server of its own.
No analytics
No behaviour tracking, no advertising identifiers. There is not a single third-party library in the app.
Cameras stay home
The video goes straight from the camera to the iPad over your own network. It doesn't pass through anyone else, not even us.
Your settings stay with you
They stay on the device. They're backed up to your own iCloud, or to a file you pass along yourself.
Passwords in the keychain
Camera credentials are stored by the device's system keychain, not by the app.
We don't ask for your location
You type in the city for the weather yourself. The app has no access to the device's location and never asks for it.
A single connection goes out to a service that is not Apple: the weather forecast. The city you type in is sent to look up its coordinates, and those are used to download the forecast – with no account and no identifiers.

An Apple Home home is needed to control accessories. RTSP cameras work without one.

Frequently asked questions
Does it work with cameras that aren't in HomeKit?+
Yes. You enter the RTSP stream address, or let the app scan the network – for ONVIF cameras it works out the address on its own. Cameras streaming H.264 or H.265 over RTSP are supported.
Will it show the temperature from a HomePod?+
No. Apple doesn't make the HomePod's sensors available to any app other than Home. To measure temperature you need a separate HomeKit or Matter thermometer.
Is the free version only a trial?+
It isn't. It has limits on how many accessories you can add, but it runs with no time limit.

Common cases
- The camera won't connect: check that it streams H.264 or H.265 over RTSP and that it's on the same network as the iPad. Credentials belong directly in the stream address.
- The app doesn't fill the whole screen: turn off Stage Manager, or turn on Guided Access – for a panel on the wall that's better anyway.
- An accessory is missing: add it in the Home app first, then it will appear in Dashboard's settings.
- Temperature from a HomePod: Apple doesn't make it available to any app other than Home. You need a separate HomeKit or Matter thermometer.
Privacy Policy
The app does not collect, store or send any personal data anywhere. All settings remain on your device; the optional configuration backup (including floor plan and background images) goes to your private iCloud, which only your Apple Account can access – the developer has no access to it – or, with Premium, to a file you share yourself.
Permissions for HomeKit, calendars, the camera, the microphone and the local network are used solely to display and control your home directly on the device; the local network is scanned only to find RTSP cameras. Access to Photos is add-only and is used solely to save a time-lapse. Person detection by the front camera (waking the display) runs only locally and no image is stored or sent anywhere.
The weather forecast is downloaded anonymously from the Open-Meteo service – only the name of the selected location and the coordinates the service returns for it are sent. The app has no access to the device's location and never asks for it. If you add a car (Premium), the app connects directly to the Škoda Auto server through the public MyŠkoda interface, using the key you created in the MyŠkoda app: it sends the key and the car's VIN and receives the car's status. The key is stored only in your device's keychain, and nothing passes through the developer.
Purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple; the app has no user accounts and contains no analytics or advertising.
This website counts visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics. It uses no cookies, stores nothing on the visitor's device and does not identify visitors or follow them across other sites.
